Android
Google's mobile operating system that runs on most non Apple smartphones and forms its own world for marketers.
Also known as: Android OS, Google Android
Android is Google's mobile operating system, used by many device makers. Together with iOS it is one of the two major standards in the smartphone market and brings its own technical requirements for apps, websites and mailings. To stay visible on mobile you have to take Android into account, both for rendering and for tracking.
What Android means in daily work
Different screen sizes, render engines, default fonts and mail clients shape how content looks on Android. Gmail on Android behaves differently from Apple Mail, for example in how it handles images, links or font sizes. Tests on real devices or solid emulators are mandatory, browser previews are not enough.
In daily marketing work
What counts most is responsive design, fast load times, touch friendly buttons, readable font sizes and tracking links that actually work. Tracking parameters pass through differently depending on browser, app and privacy settings. If conversion data matters to you, check Android and iOS separately and compare reach and reactions per system.
Within the JD context
Mailings from JD Mail, landing pages from JD Partner campaigns and lead flows from JD Leads are mostly opened on mobile devices, with a large Android share. Templates should therefore be built for narrow columns, large tap targets and reduced image weight. Reports can be split by device so that mobile performance becomes visible on its own.
