Email List

Structured set of email addresses with related data used for newsletters, promotions and trigger emails.

Also known as: Mailing List, Subscriber List

An email list is the foundation of any serious email marketing. It holds recipient addresses and all supporting data needed for sending, segmenting and legal records. This includes signup date, source of consent, IP, chosen topics, interests, behaviour and status. A well-maintained list is a commercial asset; a neglected list is a reputation risk.

What belongs in the list

Mandatory fields are the email address, the signup date, the consent text and the proof of the Double-Opt-In. Add the signup source, optionally salutation, first name, last name and topic-related fields. Behavioural data like last open, last clicks or conversion enable meaningful segments. Status fields mark active, unsubscribed, hard bounce, soft bounce and addresses under observation.

How to maintain a list

List hygiene means regular removal of inactive addresses, proper bounce management and fast reaction to complaints. Reactivation campaigns can win some inactives back; the rest should leave the active sending base. Anyone who keeps sending to neglected addresses burns their sending reputation and with it the inbox placement for everyone else on the list.

Email lists in JD Mail

JD Mail keeps every list with a full history of signup, confirmation, send, open, click, bounce and unsubscribe. Segments can be built from any field and from behavioural data and re-used in campaigns. Bounce handling, complaint processing and suppression lists ensure that critical addresses are excluded from sending automatically.
