Drip Marketing
Strategy in which predefined messages are delivered to recipients in set intervals through automation, often along a funnel.
Also known as: Drip Campaign, Trigger Sequence, Automated Email Series
Drip Marketing refers to automated email sequences in which a recipient receives a series of pre-planned messages after an action or at a defined moment. The name comes from the slow drip-feed of messages over time. The aim is to build a relationship, explain an offer or guide the recipient through an order process.
How a drip sequence is built
A typical sequence starts with a trigger, such as a signup, a download or a purchase. Several emails then go out at defined intervals, for example after 1, 3, 7 and 14 days. Each message has its own goal: welcome, deep dive, reactivation or cross-sell. Branches based on behaviour like a click or a non-open refine the sequence further.
What to watch for
A clear goal per sequence matters, because without a goal the effect fades. Too high a frequency creates unsubscribes, too low a frequency lets interest dissolve. Content has to build on itself without repetition. Reports per message and per branch quickly show where a sequence can be improved.
Drip Marketing in JD Mail
JD Mail supports drip sequences through trigger mails and automations. You define the trigger, the wait time and the message templates, and JD Mail handles delivery at the right moment. Behavioural signals such as open, click or unsubscribe are available for downstream branches. A single signup can grow into a complete guided journey over several days or weeks.
