Outsourcing

Delegating tasks or entire processes to external providers instead of running them in house.

Also known as: Delegation, External Sourcing

Outsourcing means delegating tasks or entire processes to external providers instead of running them in house. In marketing it can cover content production, media buying, search ads, email sending or analytics. The usual goal is specialist knowledge, capacity or tools that you do not want to maintain permanently in house.

Which areas are typically outsourced

Classic outsourcing areas include performance advertising, SEO consulting, content production, search ads, social media management and partly marketing automation. IT close topics such as hosting, sending infrastructure or data migrations are often handed to specialised providers as well. The decision depends on resources, cost and the strategic importance of the task.

What to watch in selection

Clear contracts, defined service levels, reporting structures and a concept for data protection and data ownership matter. Whoever outsources still has to stay in the driver seat and steer the work, otherwise black boxes appear that become expensive over time. A strong provider does not just deliver results but explains them and works toward shared goals.

In everyday marketing

In day to day marketing outsourcing is not an alternative to strategy but a tool that makes strategies executable. Tools such as JD Mail, JD Partner or JD Leads can be operated in house or with external support; a clear split between strategy, execution and reporting keeps responsibilities transparent.
