Looker Studio

Free reporting tool from Google that combines data from various sources into interactive dashboards.

Also known as: Google Data Studio, Looker Reports

Looker Studio, formerly Google Data Studio, is a free reporting tool inside the Google universe. It connects data sources from many providers into interactive dashboards, from Google Analytics through Google Ads to databases and CSV files. It ranks among the most widely used reporting platforms in digital marketing.

Layout

A dashboard is built from data sources, calculated fields and visual components such as tables, line charts, maps or KPI cards. Multiple sources can be combined, for example ad spend from Google Ads with conversions from Analytics. Filters, date ranges and drill down features let users view the same dashboard from different angles.

Strengths and Limits

Looker Studio scores with a low barrier to entry, a wide range of connectors and easy sharing. With very large data volumes, complex joins or real time requirements it hits limits where specialised BI tools take the lead. A common pitfall is differing definitions of a metric in different sources, which without clean calculated fields leads to contradictory reports.

Relevance to the JD Platforms

Data from the JD platforms can be sent into Looker Studio via exports or APIs and combined with other sources, for example to show reach, clicks and conversions alongside Google Ads in one central dashboard. Advertisers can build a single view across all channels. Clean metric definitions matter, so JD values and values from other tools stay comparable in the same report.
