Google Search Console
Free Google tool to monitor a domain's visibility in Google Search and to handle technical diagnostics.
Also known as: GSC, Search Console, Webmaster Tools
Google Search Console is the central tool for the relationship between a website and Google Search. It shows which pages are indexed, which crawling issues occur, which search queries deliver visibility and what click and impression numbers are produced. The tool is free after verifying the domain or URL.
Most important reports
The Performance report lists clicks, impressions, click through rate and average position per query and per page. The Page Indexing report shows which pages Google has added to the index and which were excluded. Beyond that there are reports for sitemaps, Core Web Vitals, mobile usability, structured data and manual actions when guidelines are violated.
Practice and pitfalls
Search Console serves data with one to three days delay. Click through rates are often lower than in Google Ads because the search result page competes with other elements. Private query data is suppressed for data protection. A well maintained sitemap and regular checks for crawl errors are essential so new content lands quickly in the index.
Context in daily marketing
For SEO managers, Search Console is mandatory. Anyone without a pure SEO strategy still benefits from hints on technical issues. Combined with the JD platforms, Search Console delivers visibility data for landing pages promoted through a JD Leads funnel and shows whether organic search adds additional reach.
