Telegram Apps

Telegram Apps, officially called Telegram Mini Apps, are small web applications that open directly inside the Telegram messenger. They run in an embedded browser environment and use the user's Telegram identity, so no separate login is required. Typical use cases are shops, games, booking systems and crypto wallets.

Technical foundation

A Telegram App is essentially a website served over HTTPS and connected to the messenger through a Telegram JavaScript SDK. Through the SDK, the app accesses Telegram's theme, language, main button and payment interface. The functional range goes from simple forms to complex games with real time communication over WebSockets.

Adoption and reach

Mini Apps are gaining traction quickly, especially in the Asian and Eastern European markets, where many Telegram bots are being rebuilt as Mini Apps. For marketing teams, they are interesting because they skip app store publishing and separate installation. Reach depends directly on the existing channel or bot through which the app is shared.

For German advertisers, Telegram Apps remain a specialist topic. They become useful when the brand already operates an active Telegram community and wants to offer an interactive experience like a sweepstake, a configurator or a mini shop.
