Google Ads

Google's advertising platform for search, display, shopping, video and app promotion based on an auction model with budget controls.

Also known as: Google AdWords, Google Advertising

Google Ads is Google's advertising system and covers search, display, shopping, YouTube and app installs. Advertisers define audiences, budgets and bids, the system serves ads through a real time auction. Depending on the format you pay per click, per thousand impressions or per conversion.

Important campaign types

Search ads appear above and below the organic results. Display ads run on partner sites as banners and responsive units. Shopping campaigns pull product data from Google Merchant Center, Performance Max bundles several inventory types into one automated campaign. YouTube ads run as in stream or bumper formats.

Practical management

Successful accounts depend on clean account structures, clear audience definitions and proper conversion tracking. Without conversion data the system optimises blindly. Negative keywords filter out irrelevant queries, ad extensions lift visibility and click rate. Campaign budgets should be high enough for the algorithm to gather data.

Relation to the JD platforms

Google Ads is a complementary source for lead generation and reach that combines well with JD Leads. When click traffic from Google Ads flows into a JD Leads funnel, the lead data is processed directly in the campaign tool. JD Mail uses the captured addresses for follow up email delivery and nurturing.
