Conversational Ads
Ad formats that engage the user in a dialogue instead of pushing one way messages.
Also known as: Dialogue Adverts, Interactive Ads
Conversational ads are advert formats that draw users into an interactive dialogue. Instead of showing a static image or video, the advert asks questions, offers choices or leads directly into a messenger dialogue. The goal is to generate engagement inside the ad slot itself and to make the handover into the funnel smoother.
Which formats belong here
Click to WhatsApp Ads from Meta, Messenger adverts, voice driven adverts on smart speakers or interactive mini games inside display adverts all qualify. Quiz formats where users answer questions and then receive personalised results also fall into this category. On YouTube or in programmatic environments there are also clickable hot spots inside videos.
What conversational ads achieve
Higher engagement and longer attention spans are the main arguments. Users voluntarily leave data points that are valuable for downstream targeting. Conversion rates typically beat classic static formats because users have already made a small commitment through their interaction. On the risk side sit higher production effort and more complex setups.
Practice note
Conversational ads need a well thought out script and a reply logic that avoids loops. Question order, tone of voice and the final handover into the funnel must be cleanly tested before go live. Reporting runs through platform specific metrics such as interaction rate, drop off per question and conversion at the end of the dialogue.
