Chatbot Marketing

Use of chatbots for lead generation, customer engagement and conversion across the marketing funnel.

Also known as: Conversational Marketing, Messenger Marketing

Chatbot marketing applies chat based automation directly to marketing goals. Instead of merely answering support queries, the bot handles greeting, qualification, product recommendation or appointment booking and shifts funnel tasks into a dialogue context that many users prefer over a form.

Typical use cases

On a website a bot can greet visitors as they enter, clarify questions and hand qualified leads straight to sales. Inside WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger entire buying consultations run through the bot, including images and product cards. Ecommerce brands use bots for order status, cross selling and reorder reminders.

Where the strengths lie

Bots are available around the clock and can run hundreds of conversations in parallel. The dialogue context has a lower barrier than a classic form, while it still produces structured data because the bot asks targeted questions. In many sectors the conversion rate beats classic landing pages, provided the bot truly helps and avoids empty phrases.

Practice notes

Expectations for answer quality are high, a poorly built bot damages the brand more than no bot at all. GDPR compliant data handling inside WhatsApp and Messenger is regulatorily sensitive and should be cleared with legal counsel in advance. It is wise to connect the bot tightly to the customer database so that learnings from dialogues feed later email campaigns.
