Agentic AI

AI systems that independently plan tasks, use tools and execute multiple steps in sequence without each step having to be triggered individually.

Also known as: AI Agents, Agent based AI, Autonomous AI

Agentic AI describes AI systems that do not just generate single answers but plan and execute complex tasks independently. Such systems use tools like search engines, APIs or databases, make intermediate decisions and work through steps independently until a goal is reached.

How it differs from classic chatbots

A classic chatbot answers individual queries and ends. An agentic AI gets a higher level goal like book a suitable business trip or create a marketing report from this data and breaks the task into sub steps. It calls suitable tools, processes intermediate results and corrects itself when needed.

Where agentic AI already works today

In bounded domains with clear tools, agents already deliver usable results today, e.g. for automated research, data preparation or generating structured reports. With very open tasks involving many unclear decisions, agents tend to get lost quickly or produce errors that require human correction.

Relevance for marketing

For marketing, complete agent supported workflows are emerging, e.g. for campaign setup, creative generation, segment building or report creation. JD Media actively monitors this development and gradually evaluates which tasks can sensibly be integrated into its own platforms.
