Knowledge Panels

Information cards in search results that engines show for brands, people, places or terms, mixing their own data with content from the open web.

Also known as: Knowledge Graph Card, Knowledge Card, Brand Panel

Knowledge panels are the compact information cards Google, Bing and others show next to or above the regular results. They render the core facts about an entity, for example a company, a person, a product or a place, and combine structured data with web content. For brands they are a public business card placed right inside the search results.

Sources and Layout

The content comes from the engine's own knowledge graph, internal databases, Wikipedia and Wikidata as well as official profiles such as the company website. Structured data in your markup, in particular Schema.org annotations for Organization or Person, helps engines map content correctly. A consistent brand name, exact address data and well kept external profiles raise the chance of a complete panel.

Care and Risk

You cannot edit panel content directly, but you can shape it through suggestions, verified profiles and consistent data. Wrong information usually originates in conflicting sources such as outdated directories or inconsistent spelling. Regular reviews of your own brand entries and a tidy data footprint across the web prevent misrepresentation.

Relevance to the JD Platforms

Advertisers running campaigns through JD Partner benefit from a complete knowledge panel, because recipients of a JD Mail send or visitors of a landing page often check the brand quickly in search before converting. A clean brand presentation acts as an amplifier for the entire JD campaign. The panels themselves are not part of the JD products, they shape the environment around JD creatives.
