Google PageSpeed Insights

Free Google tool that measures load time and Core Web Vitals of websites on mobile and desktop.

Also known as: PageSpeed Insights, PSI

Google PageSpeed Insights is a free Google analysis tool that audits websites for performance. It combines lab data from Lighthouse with field data from the Chrome User Experience Report. The result is a score from 0 to 100 for mobile and desktop, complemented by concrete optimisation recommendations.

Which metrics matter

The key values are the Core Web Vitals: Largest Contentful Paint, Interaction to Next Paint and Cumulative Layout Shift. They measure perceived load time, responsiveness to input and visual stability. Google uses these values as a ranking signal in search, at least in the mobile version. Red values cost visibility and conversion.

Typical recommendations

Recommendations range from image optimisation, modern image formats and correct image sizes through minimising JavaScript and CSS to caching, server response times and avoiding layout shifts. Some recommendations take a few hours to implement, others require theme or server changes. Prioritising by load time impact helps.

Context in daily marketing

In daily marketing, PageSpeed Insights matters mainly for landing pages. Fast landing pages improve conversion rate and quality score in Google Ads. Anyone driving traffic from JD Leads or JD Mail campaigns to their own landing pages should check PageSpeed scores regularly so investment in reach and sending is not wasted on long load times.
