Facebook Ads
Meta's advertising platform for running paid ads on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and the Audience Network.
Also known as: Meta Ads, Facebook Advertising
Facebook Ads is the advertising platform of the Meta family. A central Ads Manager runs campaigns across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and the Audience Network. Formats range from simple image ads through carousels and videos to stories, reels and lead forms inside the app.
How the platform is structured
A campaign has a marketing goal such as reach, traffic, conversion or lead generation. Below it sit ad sets with audience, placement, budget and schedule, and each ad set contains individual ads. Audiences can be demographic, interest-based, defined from your own lists or built as lookalike audiences. Tracking happens through the Pixel on your site or through the Conversions API.
What matters in execution
Successful campaigns need clear goals, separate learning phases per variant and enough budget per ad set so optimisation can do its work. Pitfalls include constant changes during the learning phase, audiences that are too narrow, weak creatives and broken conversion tracking. Working with your own lists or lookalike audiences gives a clear lift over purely interest-based campaigns.
In the media mix
Facebook Ads suits awareness, lead generation and visually strong products well. Combined with email marketing, complete funnels emerge: ads lead to a landing page with a signup, then an email sequence takes over until the sale. JD Mail and JD Partner deliver the owned reach and the reporting that make the impact of ad spend visible.
